Abstract

In this work, we reflect on how a teacher and student mobility program financed by the Brazilian and Argentine governments impacts students' lives. In a special way, we analyze the new identities that students construct throughout their stay in the destination country. Discussing the mobility program in the field of internationalization studies, considering the formation of communities of practice and identity studies, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the Brazilians when they returned from the exchange and with the Argentines before returning to their country. The results show that programs of this nature do not only contribute to the linguistic development of students, but also to their integral formation: it teaches coexistence with other cultures and respects difference, improves linguistic performance, promotes personal maturation, and develops a professional qualification.
