When the proposal is to address the problem of passions and moral issue in Cartesian thought, there is no doubt the importance of his Treatise of the passions, by a treaty of moral excellence. However, we will recognize that for such discussions, as important as the Treaty is its antecedents, especially the correspondence with Princess Elisabeth between 1643 and 1649. Following this correspondence becomes clear that she is directly responsible for preparing the Treated. We believe that from the affairs that address, the letters included in this correspondence can be divided into groups, so that the most important for the Treaty, as we believe, are included in the groups of letters that address medical and moral issues, we present this article.
