The resentment as inhibition of action, reaction and action in Nietzsche’s philosophy

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the notions of action, reaction and inhibition of action in Nietzsche's philosophy in the relationship with the concept of resentment. This analysis will be made taking as basic text the Genealogyof Morals and considering some philosopher readings associated with thetopic. A first is Dühring, in whose writings we find the idea of resentment as a"reactive feeling" that mechanically wouldgive rise to a reaction, to the revenge actionthat he calls a justice. The second is Dostoevsky, which allows the idea of the resentment especially, including the idea of an inhibition of the action, a reaction that is not effective in acts and, therefore, back to the inside the man blocking his present life. As we shall see, it is this psychological factor that will allow Nietzsche to use the concept without being attached to the basic idea of a simple mechanical reaction.

Antonio Edmilson Paschoal, Universidade Federal do Paraná - UFPR

Graduado em Filosofia pela PUC-PR, mestre em Filosofia pela PUC-SP e doutor em Filosofia pela UNICAMP, com pesquisa desenvolvida na Freie Universität-Berlin. Realizei dois estágios de pós-doutorado, um na Universität Leipzig e outro na Ernst Moritz Arndt Universität Greifswald. Concentro minhas atividades em duas áreas de atuação. A primeira compreende a filosofia prática posterior a Kant, com projetos sobre a "Má consciência e o ressentimento" e "Tempo histórico e subjetividade", nos quais realizo estudos sobre aspectos da filosofia de Nietzsche em interface com o pensamento de Kant, Dostoiévski, Schopenhauer e Foucault. A segunda compreende o ensino de filosofia, em especial no ensino médio. Nessa área já prestei várias assessorias ao MEC, SEED-PR e ANPOF, destacando-se a participação nos debates e redação das "Orientações Curriculares Nacionais para o Ensino de Filosofia no Ensino Médio" e na organização do PROF-FILO, um Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia - mestrado Profissional - em rede nacional. Minhas pesquisas nessa área vinculam-se ao projeto "História da filosofia e autonomia de pensamento". Como resultados, meu trabalho inclui algumas traduções e publicações autorais, dentre as quais temos os livros ?A genealogia de Nietzsche?, ?Nietzsche e a auto-superação da moral? e "Nietzsche e o ressentimento". Fui docente do Departamento de Filosofia da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná de 1987 a 2014 e atualmente é professor do Departamento de Filosofia da Universidade Federal do Paraná, atuando no Curso de Filosofia, no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia e no núcleo local do PROF-FILO. Também coordeno o PROF-FILO nacional, sou membro do grupo de sustentação do GT-Nietzsche da ANPOF e um dos editores da Revista Estudos Nietzsche, do GT Nietzsche.
