Abstract

This article aims to tread the architecture discussion with reference to the thought of Descartes. From the problem of conceptualizing the Space, Cartesian philosophy point, however, for another discussion, perhaps even more relevant, and reveal the fecundity of the unsaid. The bibliographic database consists, mainly, by the Meditations, published originally in 1641, but also the previous Rules for the Guidance of the Spirit (1628), as well as the last book published officially in life by the philosopher, translated into Portuguese as The Passions of the Soul (1649). It will need to understand minimally the characteristics and limitations of what is conceived as Descartes res extensa and res cogitans, in order to later understand the affinity between them with the intention to check a possible effect on the relationship of architecture with the man who creates it.
