Marcuse's proposal for a revolution based on the "triumph of Eros" passes through his synthesis between Freudian and Marxian theories. In this article, Andrew Feenberg introduces us to Marcuse's Freud-Marxism and the debate about the limits of Marcusean utopia. Therefore, in a first moment, Feenberg indicates the reasons that led Marcuse to accomplish such a synthesis, as well as the elements that ground it; next, Feenberg will lead us to the main implications of the "total revolution" proposed by Marcuse, its transformations in the spheres of sexuality, aesthetics, rationality, being, and technology. Finally, in his conclusion, Feenberg intends to provide an answer to a conceptual problem in Marcuse's hypothesis: the impossibility of a "non-repressive" society.
