The attempt to empty criticism: Mises and the liberal assumptions

This essay brings to the critical debate the thought of one of the main exponents of ultraliberal ideas and the dominant forms of individualism, Ludwig Von Mises, from his understanding of economic praxis, the individual and human action. To do so, we start from his magnum opus, Human Action: a treatise of economics, contrasting its determining categories with marxist ontology and the critical social theory formulated by Karl Marx. Thereby, we highlight controversial aspects in the theoretical construction of the Austrian author, reaffirming the validity and currentness of Marx's thought for the emancipatory struggles of the 21st century, in view of the convenient rise of this type of theoretical approach in contemporary times.
