Abstract

Professor Josep Burgaya is currently one of the most proficient analysts critical of issues of economic, social, political and ethical nature that directly and indirectly affect social policy. His training in contemporary history allied to his métier as a press writer has sharpened his interest in paradoxes and contradictions that are not always revealed and debated in depth. His latest productions, titled "The Economics of Absurdity", 2015, winner of the Joan Fuster Prize for Essays, and "Goodbye to Political Sovereignty", 2017, are mandatory discussion material for anyone wishing to understand the dangers currently in democracy, social citizenship, state power, labor rights and, consequently, social policy as public policy. In this interview he analyzes the current political and economic situation and indicates some consequences for social policy.
