Brasília and memory in digital records: landscape features and data preservation

Abstract

The management of research data, in parallel to the public and computerized availability of scientific collections, contemplates the emergence of the problem of the organization of knowledge and the reuse of digital data. In this case study, the treatment of reused data is in focus, considering the problematization of its future access and long-term digital preservation strategies. The research process, in analysis, is related to the urbanization of the territory of the Federal District (Brazil), after the implantation of Brasilia, in counter position to the formation of a local scientific memory. The space- temporal frame, between 1960 and 2016, aims to identify fields of knowledge in construction, their agents and their interrelationships from series of visual records, population data, cartographic and botanical collections. These sources are subject to distinct access and dissemination policies, which pose restrictions on the second life cycle of this documentation. The reuse of data from scientific collections, linked to the Cerrado in the Federal District (Brazil), was guided by historical - geographic methodology and was object of analytical requalification, with support of a Geographic Information System. The results of mapping in thematic charts can be viewed on the digital platform (Dataverse), in order to ensure access, reuse and digital preservation.
