A psicopatia é um transtorno de personalidade caracterizado por comportamentos antissociais impulsivos, capacidade de julgamento comprometida e insensibilidade na interação com outros indivíduos. Autores tem aventado que a psicopatia reflete uma deficiência relacionada ao processamento de informação de conteúdo emocional. Em virtude dessa concepção, muitos pesquisadores vem investigando a habilidade de psicopatas identificarem emoções expressas pela face. De forma sistemática, os autores revisam achados provenientes de estudos que investigam a conexão entre psicopatia e habilidade de identificar expressões faciais. Conclui-se que uma variedade de metodologias distintas e, muitas vezes, não convergentes tem sido empregadas, sendo que os resultados não se mostram inteiramente consistentes. O artigo também sugere a utilização de tempos distintos relacionados à exposição dos estímulos usados nessas pesquisas.
