"TO DO IN THE HEAD":
METAPHORICAL AND NEGATIVE USAGE
Keywords:
Conceptual analysis, Memory, Internalization, Intermediate responses, ThinkingAbstract
The analysis of the concept "to do in the head" in ordinary
language reveals that its usage is metaphorical, for it does not refer to
anything inside the body, and negative, for it indicates the non-occurrence
of behavior that used to occur. These characteristics of the usage of the
concept have led to some conceptual confusions in psychology. In view
of this analysis, the investigation of the necessary and sufficient
conditions for the disappearance of intermediate responses is suggested.
