Abstract

In this study a procedure was designed to rate the physical
attractiveness of children from their photographs. Two groups of judges
rated the physical attractiveness of 69 boys and 61 girls. Each photograph
was scored from 1 to 5. The correlation coefficients between mean scores
of two groups were significant. Therefore scores of two groups were
gathered and a new mean score was calculated for each photograph. As
stimuli to be used in the following studies, 15 photographs of each sex
were selected according to mean scores and standard deviations, being 5
photographs of high attractiveness, 5 of moderate attractiveness and 5 of
low attractiveness. This procedure may be adequate to rate physical
attractiveness of children from photographs as well as to compare ratings
of different groups of judges.
