Abstract

This paper presents a critical analysis of educational activites
with excepcional individuals by the author, during the last 17 years.
Issues concerning success and failures are pointed out and some suggestions
are provided for professionals and researchers. The analysis
considers three levels: the macro-systemic conditions, intra-institutional
conditions and conditions/characteristics of the individual students, parents
and educators. The importance of the tryad: intervention, continued
education for the professionals and research, is emphasized, as well as
the need of active involvement in the fight for the legal, constitutional rights
of the exceptional citizens.
