EPISTEMOLOGY OF GREGORY BATESON:
ITS RELEVANCE FOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Abstract
This article examines the concepts of relation and
difference in the work of Gregory Bateson with the objective of
establishing an epistemological basis for modern clinical theories,
which have been shown successful only from the empirical point of
view. Bateson expects that, in the future, his epistemology will be able
to substitute intuitive strategies with more systematic and conscious
activity, when the analysis of communication, type of relation and the
integration of the notion of difference will allow the aplication of
russellian logical types model to the mental processes world.
