Normas de alerta e valência para 908 palavras da língua portuguesa

Normas de valência e alerta para 908 palavras foram coletadas utilizando-se a escala de julgamento SAM (Self-Assessment Manikin). Participaram do estudo 4359 estudantes universitários oriundos de quatro universidades. Os resultados identificaram palavras em todos os quadrantes do espaço afetivo sugerindo que estas podem ser classificadas como relaxantes, neutras ou alertadores (dimensão alerta) e, como negativas, neutras ou positivas emocionalmente (dimensão valência). A confiabilidade média das normas de valência (r = 0,97) e alerta (r = 0,94) foram altas e significativas. Os julgamentos de alerta ou valência não estiveram associados ao sexo, idade, frequência de ocorrência das palavras em materiais escritos. Os resultados sugerem que alerta e valência podem ser consideradas como atributos ortogonais das palavras.
