Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyze the construction of the discursive representation of transgender identity in its relation to various social actors, based on the linguistic analysis of a corpus of life stories produced by trans people in Buenos Aires City between 2012 and 2016. The theoretical framework is Critical Discourse Analysis and the methodology is qualitative and inductive. The results show that, through different linguistic strategies that combine reinforcing and mitigating resources, family is constructed as a key social actor in the exclusion of trans people.
