Abstract

This work is an integral part of the master's dissertation entitled “The Discourse of Religious Intolerance in the film “The Promise Payer” from the Perspective of Ecological Discourse Analysis” (2018). The research focuses on the disharmonic interspecific interactions that result from religious intolerance in the film. The Promise Payer movie that portrays the story of Zé do Burro (Jo of the Donkey), a simple man who makes a promise to Santa Barbara to carry a cross as heavy as Jesus' if the saint heals his pet donkey. Thus, the general objective of the present research is to demonstrate how religious intolerance leads to suffering in its natural, mental and social spheres and how the film is representative in relation to it.

Doutoranda em Letras e Linguística pela Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras e Linguística da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). Mestre em Letras e Linguística pela Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras e Linguística da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG).  Membro do Grupo de Pesquisa Nelim - Núcleo de Estudos de Ecolinguística e Imaginário -, cadastrado no Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa do Brasil do CNPq.

Elza Kioko Nakayama Nenoki do Couto, UFG

Possui pós-doutorado em Linguística pela UNB, mestrado e doutorado em Língua Portuguesa pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Atualmente, é Professora Adjunto da UFG e coordenadora líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Nelim ”“ Núcleo de Estudos de Ecolinguística e Imaginário -, cadastrado no Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa do Brasil do CNPq.
