TRANS WOMEN PARLIAMENTARIANS ON INSTAGRAM: ERIKA HILTON AND DUDA SALABERT

In this study, we aim to analyze the content published on the Instagram profiles of federal deputies Erika Hilton and Duda Salabert. The data collection occurred over a 14-day period, totaling 37 posts. For the conceptual framework of this study, specifically in the treatment of gender and transsexualities, we draw upon the social perspective (SCOTT, 1995), (SAFFIOTI, 2001), (TORRES, 2015), (NASCIMENTO, 2023). Regarding discussions on digital social networks, we rely on the concept of social connections facilitated by the internet and other technologies (RECUERO, 2009, 2012), (CASTELLS, 2013). Methodologically, we employed Content Analysis (BARDIN, 1977, 2016), and as a result, we formulated three categories based on the corpus: Social Causes, Electoral Campaign, and Parliamentary Work. Furthermore, we observed that the content disseminated by the deputies features descriptive, informational, and sociopolitical characteristics related to their parliamentary function. The analyzed content also indicated the intersection of prejudices and sociopolitical confrontations due to the gender identity of the parliamentarians.
