In the 1960s, a movement inspired by North American modern dance and the mysticism of Hindu sound emerged, known as Dances of Universal Peace. This study approaches this phenomenon from the notion of bodily integrity, investigating the effects generated by the vocal gesture. The experience reports of the author and practicing scholars analyze processes that combine dance and singing, highlighting their comprehensive somatic dimensions, found in the spatial harmony of sound gestures, in the homeostasis provided by body, sound, vocal and collective vibration, as well as in the psychic levels of archetypes. and symbols resulting from the mystical encounter between Western and Eastern cultures.
