This article uses as main sources the unpublished text written by the composer and pianist Jovino Santos Neto, in 1992, in addition to the interview we conducted with the musician on April 8, 2022, about the Sound of the Aura, a denomination created by the Brazilian composer and arranger Hermeto Pascoal to designate musical compositions based on the notion that the spoken voice is an unconventional melody. Through documentary and ethnographic research, we present information about the genesis and development of the Sound of the Aura, from the 1980’s to the present day, verifying possible applications of this type of composition in music, audio-visual, theater and multimedia works.
