At the present time, when the human relations are often mediated by technology, the voice stands out as a privileged element in the context of different media. Through the voices that come to us, we perceive the other. This article starts stating the ancient desire of the human being to capture and perpetuate the voice through the development of technological devices, letting appear the disembodied voices, and through examples of manifestations of diverse artistic languages, it observes how the devices have influenced the use of the voice in creative processes, often resulting in hybrid forms. The study reflects on the complexity of the vocal phenomenon in the contemporary context, when virtual and real voices interpenetrate.
