Para além de centro e periferia? Repensando a sociedade do trabalho contemporânea

Abstract

This review seeks to show the contribution of the book "The New World Labor Society: Beyond Center and Periphery?" to understanding contemporary labor society. Fabrício Maciel launched this second edition at an opportune moment to resume and renew some debates on the increase in precarity worldwide and especially in Brazil. The review brings together the main debates and contributions of each of the eight chapters, with a focus on the author's interpretative stance. The instigating and critical re-reading of great sociological theorists and their interpretation of the labor society as a global society is innovative in the sociology of Brazilian labor, as well as the incorporation of the element of dignity to deal with labor that was previously seen only as precarious. In this sense, this text aims to sharpen the need for a deeper understanding of the labor society beyond the methodological nationalism that surrounds us.
