Conceptions of managers on the policy of persons deprived of liberty’s health care

The National Policy for Comprehensive Health Care of the Private Person of Freedom in the Prison System was implemented through Ordinance No. 482 of April 1, 2014, with the objective of ensuring effective and systematic access of the population in state custody to health actions and services. The objective of this work is to understand the conceptions and practices of health service managers about the National Health Care Policy of Persons Deprived of Liberty in the Prison System. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, carried out within a municipality of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, with managers of establishments that are a reference for the care of people deprived of liberty and who represent the care network in their levels of complexity of the municipality. The managers of health services that comprised the sample of this study recognize the right to health of people deprived of liberty. However, knowledge about the principles, guidelines and operationalization of the National Policy for Comprehensive Health Care of the Private Person of Freedom in the Prison System is still scarce.
