The objective was to evaluate the occupational stress level of nurses in the family health strategy, correlating with occupational and sociodemographic factors. This is a cross - sectional study with 56 nurses from the family health strategy of the north and northwest regions of the city of Goiânia/GO. Two questionnaires were used, one occupational sociodemographic and the other one evaluating stress at work. It was identified that the higher the age, the greater the level of irritation about this organizational situation (p = 0.046). Women comprised 94.6% of the sample, and stress was related to the supervision of not assigning them to important responsibilities (p = 0.011) and those who said they had no religion constituted a group that felt isolated in the organization (p = 0.003). It was concluded that nurses had high levels of stress in relation to the service management, lack of appreciation, work discredit and third-party empowerment of their achievements.
