Nível De Categorização De Estereótipos Sexuais
Resumo
RESUMO - O presente estudo teve o objetivo de verificar o nível de categorização de diversas categorias sexuais, através da análise de seu conteúdo. Foi solicitado a 1 92 sujeitos, de ambos os sexos, que descrevessem os atributos que caracterizavam as categorias. Os resultados revelaram que: (1) todas as categorias masculinas e femininas apresentaram características de categorias de nível básico, por possuírem um número significativamente maior de atributos distintos entre si que de atributos comuns; (2) as categorias de "homem" e "mulher" não se encontravam num nível superordenado mais abstrato de categorização que as demais categorias, já que estas categorias mais gerais não apresentaram uma menor riqueza de atributos que as categorias mais específicas a elas associadas. Concluiu-se que os estudos futuros sobre estereótipos sexuais devem utilizar não apenas as categorias de "homem" e "mulher", mas também outros subtipos masculinos e femininos, o que poderá contribuir para uma melhor compreensão da natureza do estereótipo.
