30 years of Lélia Gonzalez's ancestral presence among us: politics and the construction of non-negotiable agendas

Abstract

This article seeks to establish a dialogue between the lived experiences of militant practice and theories that challenge colonial logic, in line with the thinking of Lélia Gonzalez. It reflects on the political engagement of the black movement and its ability to influence non-negotiable agendas over the past 30 years. We will delve into Gonzalez's theoretical writings while recalling the agendas, issues, marches, and mobilizations that have marked the trajectory of black activists and intellectuals, especially in northeastern Brazil. Using a militant perspective, we will explore Lélia Gonzalez's narrative, theoretical, and insurgent contributions to the political and affirmative formation of an entire generation moving from an Amefrican perspective, crucial for the political act of raising one's voice and gathering in quilombos.
