Steven Engler, Mount Royal University

Steven Engler is Professor of Religious Studies at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada (M.A.
Philosophy, U of Toronto; Ph.D. Religion Concordia U, Montréal). He studies spirit incorporation
traditions in Brazil, as well as methodology and theory in the study of religion.

Mark Q. Gardiner is Professor of Philosophy at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada (M.A.
Philosophy, U of Calgary; Ph.D. McMaster U, Hamilton). He works mainly in the philosophy of
language, especially as it intersects with method and theory in the study of religion.
