O papel da kenosis na história da salvação

Abstract

This article will problematize the issue of secularization as a process that goes beyond the opposition between religion and secularism. Based on Gianni Vattimo's philosophy of weakening, we point out the interpretative, hermeneutical and philosophical aspects that mark the event of openness to plurality and distancing from the claims of metaphysical truth. This secularization also results in the desacralization of the founding elements of modernity, such as rationality and the centrality of the human being, as well as the concept of progress, trust in science and attachment to political concepts. In the ethical-political sphere, secularization presents itself as a rupture of the monopoly of interpretation, insofar as it calls into question the legitimacy of the discourse of religious authority and of those leaders who claim to be the holders of the true discourse, of political puritanism and of blind patriotism. This secularization, according to Vattimo, is based on the kenosis of God, on desacralization, and is therefore identified with the history of Christianity itself and is not limited to being an invention of modernity.
