The aim of this article is to inquire whether the beliefs based on religious emotions are reliable in epistemological terms. In order to accomplish this, we will address William Alston’s doxastic practice approach, which examines the possibility of a belief being justified through the reliability of a belief-forming mechanism, the doxastic practices. The attempt to be made here is to apply Alston's approach to a possible emotion doxastic practice. Also inspired by Rudolf Otto’s thesis about the non-rational in religious experience, inquiring if that non-rational are emotions. We aim to understand if we can justify religious beliefs formed by emotion.
