THE SO-CALLED OBLIGATIONS TO ONESELF AS EVIDENCE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD

This paper is an attempt at a theistic explanation of the class of moral obligations often referred to as "obligations to oneself". Although the obligation to oneself language is usual in the daily discourse, we will argue that it is not possible for an obligation to have its author and subject as one and the same person on penalty of trivializing the very concept of obligation. We will also argue that some of the actions comprised within this class of moral obligation can be kept as morally obligatory in the context of a theistic worldview and that the naturalist will have troubles trying to do the same.Downloads
