The theme of this article is memory and identity in education and the challenges to a non-indigenous model that threatens the promotion and maintenance of the culture of the Xetá People. General objective: understanding the coexistence of this people with other cultures, in the process of fighting for their rights. Specific objectives: to reflect on the ways of promoting Xetá education; create elements of resistance in the interaction with non-indigenous education; and think of instruments that can be created in order to stablish dialogue with non-indigenous society that promotes the maintenance and updating of Xetá memory work. Theoretical framework: the concept of Collective Memory of Halbwacs (1990), among others. We affirm that the formation of identity and education as resistance are necessary approaches to the subject of Human Rights, with important results for the Xetá People in their struggle for existence.
