Este artigo pretende situar os romances Cidade de Deus de Paulo Lins e Capão Pecado e Manual prático do ódio de Ferréz no panorama dos ‘novos realismos’ brasileiros contemporâneos, avaliando as escolhas temáticas e as técnicas e procedimentos narrativos. Aliás, este estudo analisa a originalidade da sua prosa, notando a cautelosa distância da sua fi losofi a estética e os elementos fundamentais do seu universo literário ”“ pobreza, crime e desigualdade ”“ a respeito de qualquer cultura extrema da violência. A análise destes livros procura revelar outra perspectiva do problema da imagem da cidade e da pobreza urbana, normalmente sensacionalista, e contribuir a uma melhor compreensão da complexidade da violência quotidiana nas comunidades urbanas pobres.Downloads
