The methodology in ecosystem linguistics
Keywords:
Ecomethodology; Focussing; Perspective; Holistic view; Ecolinguistics.Abstract
The objective of this article is to discuss methodology in ecolinguistics. It begins with a brief discussion of the very concept of methodology. Next, it sketches a history of methodology in ecolinguistics, beginning with the sociologist Michael Löwy, through Mark Garner, Hans Strohner and Joshua Nash. Building upon them ecomethodology is presented. In order to apply it Garner’s focussing method is adopted, even if with the help of a specialist. It consists in zooming in and focussing tiny details of the object of study. With the results in hand, the investigator goes back to the holistic position ”“ the ecological view of the world ”“ in order to evaluate them.
