Sobre a necessidade de submeter o discurso ambiental contemporâneo à investigação reflexiva

This paper analyses discourses about environmental issues put into circulation by the transnational corporation BP from the combined approach of Critical Discourse Analysis corpus linguistics’ techniques. The study evaluated a number of press releases issued by the company between April 21 and June 23, 2010 due to the oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico at that time. Several linguistic aspects, as euphemisms and metaphors, have been mapped, besides terminological and lexical choices that contributed to draw the attention of the interlocutors from the real problems caused by the ecological crisis.
