Abstract

The folder included in this journal’s issue contains four insights approaching the relation that can be established between the memory and the technology in the field of performing arts. Two of the essays situate the research in the sixth century and look at, in one case, the relation between photography as a new technology being used to achieve the representation of the world and the theatre, and in the other case, the importance of the press to build both a new society and an emerging theatre field. The other two essays present the impact of the information technology and of archiving for the study of theatre and culture, contributing to the discussion about its relation with the making of contemporary history and with the action on memory.
