Abstract

Decision making is a well-discussed subject in many areas, and it gains special relevance in the context of Design processes. This article proposes to analyze how this topic has been treated in the recent academic environment from a systematic review of the articles published in Design Studies between 2012 and 2017. The analysis of the data collected shows that approximately 15% of the publications of this journal are dedicated to the theme, having its focus directed towards the relation with projective processes. In addition to the statistical aspects, the article also discusses the relation of the findings to the rationalist theories of Herbert Simon and Donald Schön's reflexive theories, which deal with decision making in design processes.
