BRAZILIAN TELEDRAMATURGY: NA OVERVIEW OF THIS EXPRESSIVENESS IN THE BRAZILIAN CONTEXT

Abstract

In this article, we aim to understand how, in brazilian lands, the soap opera genre was constituted, dealing with its origins, its reinventions and its consolidations. We will also discuss the teledramaturgy produced by TV Globo and the way the academy deals with objects from the media culture. In this sense, we supported the theory of Douglas Kellner (2001) that elucidates the concept of media culture, replacing the battered mass culture. In this article, we will also try to elucidate how homosexuality was inserted in the history of brazilian television drama and how it was received from the public who, for moral reasons, not only repudiated scenes of gay kissing, in the old years 2010, but also previously, in implantation of the telenovela genre in Brazil, which appeared in 1951. In addition to understanding internal and external censorship to boycott homo-affective kiss scenes, including conducting on-the-spot research at the TV Globo Documentation Center (CEDOC/RJ/Brazil).
