Abstract

The article deals with the political and economic relationship between Brazil and United States during the George W Bush mandate (2001-2008). It  discusses the failed attempt to establish a hemispheric free trade agreement, due to the American protectionism, and to expand the use of biofuel. Finally, it also discusses the creation of the Fourth Fleet.
