The ascension of Bioethics in the second half of XX century: from the memory of Holocaust to the historical affirmation of Human Rights

Abstract

When considering the importance of Bioethics in the occidental countries and its peculiar relation with the events occurred in XX century, we intend, in this article, to reach the following objectives: detail the narrative elaborated by the bioeticists around its field of performance; present the controversy about the place of technique and science in XX century, indicating in which way it lead to the elaboration of an imaginary of biocatastrofhe; demonstrate how the memory of II World War and Holocaust was articulated to the redefinition of the rights of man and, finally, analyze how the urgency of regulation of public politics interested in science and its daily intervention emerged.
