Abstract

The review exposes the debate held by Laura de Carvalho in Curto-Circuito about the five functions of the State that the pandemic helped to reveal. Beyond this debate, there is a contextualization of the functions presented from academic debates in the fields of economics and politics and from recente historical events. Brazilian reality is especially analyzed by the author, mainly through the discussion of strateg issues for the future of the State and democracy in Brazil.
