An THERMAL STUDY OF MATERIALS BASED ON BEER BAGASSE ASH FOR APPLICATION IN THE SELECTIVE ADSORPTION OF SULFUR COMPOUNDS.

Catalysts based on brewer's spent grain currently represent an important area of study, considering the positive results obtained with other biomasses. Brewer's spent grain (BSG) is a viable option for catalyst preparation, observing that the generated residue, brewer's spent grain ash (BSGA), exhibits suitable physicochemical characteristics for use as a catalytic support. The main objective of this work was to characterize BSGA generated at different temperatures, and subsequently characterize them using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDX-XRF), and thermal analyses (TG/DTG). The primary aim is to determine the optimal calcination temperature for future applications in the synthesis of catalysts capable of adsorbing sulfur-containing compounds.
