Abstract

Daylight Saving Time was established in Brazil for the first time in 1931, and was only adopted without interruption from 1985 onwards, but was suspended in 2019. In this sense, this work aims to carry out an analysis of the impacts on the energy sector caused by the suspension of Daylight Saving Time in Brazil from 2019. For this, a study was carried out for a period of 10 years, from 2012 to 2021, with the aim of investigating the feasibility Summer. First, a survey was carried out regarding the monthly consumption of electricity and an analysis of this consumption over time. Soon after, a survey was carried out in relation to daily consumption, so that with these data, it was possible to draw a profile of average daily consumption per consumer, thus reaching conclusions about the viability of Daylight Saving Time. The data used in the surveys were organized using spreadsheets, tables and graphs so that there was a better visualization and analysis of results. After the analyzes carried out, it was possible to say that the Summer Time lost its viability for the electric sector, thus justifying the governmental decision.
