Abstract

The Norma Telles' article, Autor +a was published for the first time in 1992 in the book Palavras da Crítica, organized by José Luis Jobim. This became an important theoretical framework of studies on the relationship of women and literature in Brazil, both by the paucity of research on gender in the academic scene back then, as the excellent quality of the work ofTelles.To date, the mentioned article is, along with other works of the author, constant references in the bibliographies of several academic papers around the country. We propose, in our article, to equip the assumptions related to the studious Autor + a, to promote the briefest reading of literary texts of the authors have selected: use the same concepts of feminist criticism which resorted, covering similar theoretical paths. Stresses that will take scope only by the texts of Brazilian authors who published the second half ofthe nineteenth to the early decades ofthe twentieth century, with the ultimate goal of bringing to light the writing by women in this period of the national literature, yet relegated to a large part ostracized by a proposed exclusionary and sexist canon.
