Abstract

This work presents a methodology for classifying and codifying papers and analysing a specific research topic. The classification system is based on three main characteristics, namely: the nature, the focus and the goals of the article. The codification system uses a hybrid structure with three digits to codify the characteristics aforementioned. The analysis of a determined research theme is performed using the classification and the codification system. The importance of such methodology, in a general way, is that it provides the researcher a better knowledge about a theme to be studied. In addition this methodology can be helpful on searching futures research about determined theme. The methodology is validated through its use on the Production Management field, particularly in the study of the relationship between Production Control (PC) and Quality Control (QC).
