The objective of this article is to present an analysis of the Brazilian cultural production field, with an emphasis on the editorial market, between the 50 and the 70 decades. The analysis binder is the biography of editor Ênio Silveira, through which an identification of the trajectory of a segment of the Brazilian intellectuality is sought, in relation to the changes occurs in the political sector in the country. The 1964 “Coup d’État” , therefore, appears as a turning point, not only in the production of political ideas, but also in the core of the relationship between the intellectuals and the State. Both the professional and the ideological trajectories of these characters and of their main institutions, throughout the recent political process, allows to foresee, therefore, aspects of the logic that presides the legitimation dynamics and the actual intellectual consecration in the intellectual Brazilian scenary.
