Navigation in Controlled Vocabularies

Abstract

This paper discusses the use of hypertext navigation tools in the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), not only as the retrieval tools for bibliographic references, but also as user aid tools. These navigation tools are also called HIR - Hypertext Information Retrieval. The help to users is done by the navigation in the controlled vocabularies. In this context, we present some experiences and problems in using these navigation tools integrated with several classification and indexing systems.
