Abstract

The article discusses the debate between positivists and post-positivists in studies of international relations. Succinctly portraying the development of the field of study of international relations and how this debate fits into the theoretical development of the field. The hypothesis developed in this paper is that the ontological and epistemological distinctions that exist between positivists and post-positivists in international relations do not lead to significant distinctions in methodology and the concrete results on the researches.
