Abstract

Pierre Hadot is considered one of the exponents of the French intelligentsia, having even influenced Michel Foucault. Philologist and philosopher was director of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and professor at the Collège de France, in which he held the chair of History of Greek and Roman Thought, becoming honorary professor from 1991. He wrote several works, among them: What is Ancient Philosophy? ; The veil of Isís; Praise of Ancient Philosophy; Praise of Socrates; Wittgenstein et les limites du langage; among others.
