Abstract

As a North American art critic and philosopher with numerous theories throughout his career, Arthur Danto has established himself as one of the most renowned figures in the realm of Art Philosophy and Aesthetics. This review aims to delve into his theory of art, which seeks to answer the question: “where is art?”. This inquiry stems from a quite assertive assumption—history. Danto places the historical perspective of an artwork at the heart of the discussion, simultaneously highlighting how artistic theory and its meanings can be crucial to the artwork itself.
