Xucuru do ororubá: contraste entre o ideal ocidental de democracia participativa e a organização tradicional

O presente trabalho tem como fonte de estudo a etnia Xucuru do Ororubá. Localizada próxima ao município de Pesqueira, em Pernambuco, é constituída por aproximadamente nove mil indígenas distribuídos por vinte e quatro aldeias. O grupo tem como singularidade as formas de organização política baseadas no contexto sócio- histórico de luta pelo território e pelo reconhecimento étnico, que permeiam as relações culturais e políticas. Estas lutas são características dos movimentos sociais, principalmente etnopolíticos.
