A conservação está cada vez mais ligada à políticas ambientais globais, seja através de fundos e programas para o meio ambiente, seja por vias dos novos mercados de projetos ambientais e “eco-commodities”. No Brasil em vários casos de sobreposição entre Terras Indígenas (TIs) e Unidades de Conservação (UCs), a conservação entra em conflito com o direito à diferença cultural dos povos indígenas. Os fundos globais e suas prioridades podem jogar um papel nestes conflitos.
